Why Ventura Homeowners Choose CGI Construction

Elmstead Remodeling Ventura provides independent Ventura Cgi service including window installation, retrofit, and repair across Ventura, from the Midtown district out to the east end. Our crews handle the full CGI line – Estate Collection, Sentinel Series, Targa Series, and Clarity Series – with OEM parts when frame dimensions and colors require it, plus marine-grade aftermarket components where Ventura’s salt air demands better than factory spec. We’re not a CGI dealer and we don’t claim to be. We’re a Ventura remodeling contractor that has spent over a decade installing and repairing CGI windows in coastal microclimates, and that field time is what lets us diagnose a failing miter joint or a stuck casement operator before we ever charge for the visit. Call (341) 218-4316 for a free estimate on any CGI service.

Why Trust Elmstead Remodeling Ventura for Your CGI Construction?

A home office with a built-in desk and shelves

CGI windows are built in Miami and engineered for hurricane zones. Ventura is not Miami. The failure modes our crews see here are different, slower, and easier to miss if you’ve never worked on a marine bluff or a stucco ranch house a half mile from the fog line. Graham Stein, our owner at Elmstead Remodeling Ventura, started his training at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College studying framing and structural plans before he ever picked up a client’s key, and he’s been doing remodeling work in Ventura for well over a decade. What that means for your CGI windows is simple: we know which models hold up on a Pierpont Bay oceanfront and which ones need extra weep maintenance on a dry hillside above Foothill Road. The climate dictates the service, not the other way around.

We also work the way a careful contractor should. Every CGI job gets a written scope of work before the first window is unboxed. Drop cloths go down inside, shoe covers go on at the door, and we photograph the clean-up before the crew leaves. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers every completed project: if something isn’t done right, we make it right. You’ll also get a live person when you call (341) 218-4316, not a voicemail box.

Common CGI Construction Problems We Fix in Ventura

  • Salt-fog miter corrosion on Estate Collection fixed lites. Ventura’s morning marine layer carries salt and moisture that settle into the aluminum corner joints on south-facing Estate Collection windows. Without regular weep-hole clearing, that salt crust eats through the miter and you start seeing white powder and pitting at the bottom corners. We see this most often on raised-foundation Craftsman homes within a mile of the ocean.
  • Vinyl glazing bead bowing on Sentinel Series casements. Direct afternoon sun on east Ventura hillsides heats the vinyl glazing beads on Sentinel windows. Thermal expansion makes them bow and pop at the upper corners, which breaks the air seal around the insulated glass unit. The window fogs, or you feel a draft. This is a repair we do with OEM beads matched to the original color code.
  • Targa Series casement operators losing clutch tension. Older CGI Targa casement windows use a clutch mechanism in the operator. After years of Ventura’s afternoon crosswinds, the clutch wears down and the sash won’t hold position. It slams against the stucco jamb, which eventually cracks the corner weld. We replace the operator and realign the sash before the frame is damaged beyond repair.
  • Bottom sweep gaskets wicking hard water minerals. Ventura water is hard. Minerals collect in the bottom sweep gaskets on CGI awning and casement windows, and once the gasket stiffens, the sill stops draining properly. After a wet winter, you’ll see water pooling or streaking on the interior sill. Replacing the sweep with a marine-grade aftermarket gasket solves the drainage problem and lasts longer near salt air.
  • Street-facing Clarity Series fixed windows with cracked laminate. The Clarity Series uses laminated impact glass, and while it’s rated for impact, it’s not immune to a rock thrown from a mower or a hard hit from a kid’s baseball bat. The laminate can crack while the outer pane still looks intact. We replace the insulated unit and re-bed the glass with structural silicone rated for coastal exposure.

CGI Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

An open living space after a whole-home remodel

When we repair a CGI window, we match the part to the job. For hinges, locking keepers, and glazing beads, we use genuine CGI components because frame dimensions and powder-coat colors need to line up exactly. For weatherstripping and weep covers on homes within a quarter mile of the coast, we install aftermarket marine-grade versions that hold up better to salt intrusion than the factory originals. That’s not a knock on CGI. It’s what the local climate requires.

We stock common CGI parts at our Ventura shop: Targa operators, Sentinel glazing beads in standard colors, Estate corner gaskets, and sill sweeps. If the frame is square and the corner welds are solid, we repair the sash or replace the glazing. Full replacement only makes sense when the frame itself has failed: pitting from years of salt fog, a cracked corner weld, or a sill that’s rotted from poor drainage. We’ll show you the difference during the estimate and write it down. If you’re unsure whether your CGI window needs a repair or a replacement, call (341) 218-4316 and we’ll walk through it.

Our CGI Service Process – Step by Step

  1. 1
Diagnosis. We inspect the frame, sash, operator, glazing, and weep system. For Estate Collection windows, we check the miters with a flashlight for hairline salt cracks. For Sentinel and Targa, we test operator tension and look for bead bowing.
  2. 2
Repair or install. Our crew lays drop cloths inside and shoe covers at the door. We remove the sash or the entire frame as needed, then install the replacement parts or the new window. If it’s a coastal retrofit, we re-flash the opening with peel-and-stick membrane before setting the frame. Quiet tools during nap and school hours where we can.
  3. 3
Test. For casements and awnings, we cycle the operator ten times and check the clutch holds. For fixed windows, we run a water test on the exterior to confirm drainage through the weep covers. We check for air leaks with a smoke pen on windy days.
  4. 4
Warranty and clean-up. Every CGI repair and installation is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. Before the crew leaves, we photograph the clean-up and send it to you. The written scope of work you got at the estimate is the final number, unless you chose to add something mid-project.

CGI Products We Service & Install in Ventura

Our Ventura crews service the full current CGI lineup: Estate Collection impact windows in fixed lite and casement configurations, Sentinel Series vinyl impact windows, Targa Series aluminum casement and awning windows, and Clarity Series fixed and casement windows. We handle retrofits into wood-frame openings, replacements for 1950s ranch houses and Spanish Revival homes, and salt-air installations close to the beach. The common parts we keep on hand: Targa operators, Sentinel beads, Estate corner gaskets, sill sweeps, and locking keepers. If you need a full installation, we’ll order frames and glass to spec and give you the written price up front.

We Also Service These Brands

CGI is a meaningful share of our window work, but it’s not the only manufacturer we install and repair. Our remodeling crews also work with KraftMaid and Wellborn cabinets, Cambria and Silestone countertops, and Kohler fixtures. That cross-brand experience matters when you’re pulling a window in a kitchen remodel and need the new opening to line up with the countertop run. If you need a General Contractor who can coordinate across trades, we handle the full scope.

Service Ventura Price Range
Impact Window Installation $8,000 – $25,000
Window Replacement $4,500 – $15,000

Those are honest ranges. A single Clarity Series fixed lite replacement in a midtown bungalow is not the same job as four Estate Collection windows on a Pierpont Bay bluff. Call (341) 218-4316 for an exact written quote, and we’ll walk through your specific openings, frame conditions, and salt exposure.
