Blanco Driveway & Pavers: The Ventura Owner’s Guide
Blanco driveway and paver systems in Ventura typically run $7,000 – $18,000 for a full installation, with individual paver replacement or repair work falling between $250 and $1,200 depending on the section and substrate condition. Most Ventura homeowners discover a problem the same way: a paver sinks after winter rain, a corner crumbles near the driveway edge, or a section shifts and leaves a lip that catches a stroller wheel or a dog’s paw. We stock Blanco-compatible pavers and the matching edge restraints, bedding sand, and joint compound on our trucks for the most common Ventura repair calls. When you call (341) 218-4316, we can usually have a technician out the same week, and we’ll bring the materials with us so you’re not waiting on a second trip.
Which Blanco Models This Applies To

Blanco’s driveway and paver lines are split into two families that Ventura owners commonly have installed. The first is the Blanco Classic series, a standard 60mm concrete paver that works for residential driveways and walkways. The second is the Blanco Permeable line, a thicker 80mm paver designed for Ventura’s stormwater requirements. The two are not interchangeable, and this is the most common compatibility mistake we see. A homeowner or a previous contractor installs a 60mm Classic paver where the original plan called for an 80mm permeable unit, and the surface fails within two or three seasons because the bedding depth and joint spacing are wrong.
To identify what you have, flip over a loose paver. Blanco stamps the series name and the thickness in millimeters on the underside. If you don’t have a loose paver, measure the exposed edge at the driveway apron. If it reads 60mm, you have the Classic line. If it reads 80mm, you have the Permeable line. OEM Blanco pavers are still available for both series, but we also install quality aftermarket equivalents from local Ventura masonry suppliers when the original color has been discontinued. The color match is not always perfect on older installations. Sun and salt air in Ventura fade pavers over eight to twelve years, and a brand-new OEM paver can look brighter than the surrounding field. We’ll tell you that before we order, not after the pallet arrives.
Elmstead Remodeling Ventura is an independent service provider and is not affiliated with Blanco. We also stock parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone product lines, so if your paver issue is part of a larger exterior or interior project, we can usually handle the full scope.

Signs Your Blanco Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
Most Blanco paver failures in Ventura announce themselves early. Here’s what we look for when homeowners call us to take a look:
- A paver rocks underfoot or clicks when stepped on. This usually means the bedding sand has washed out underneath. Ventura’s winter rain moves through the joints and carries the sand downslope. Left alone, the paver will crack at the corner within a year.
- Water pools in one low spot after a light rain. A paver driveway should shed water across its slope. A persistent puddle means the subgrade settled or the original installer didn’t compact the base well enough. The fix is lifting the section, recompacting, and re-bedding, not adding more sand on top.
- The edge paver at the driveway apron has started to tilt or separate. This is an edge restraint failure. The plastic or concrete edge strip has broken or pulled loose, and the pavers at the boundary no longer have anything holding them in line. Every time a car tire crosses that edge, the problem gets worse.
- White or chalky residue appears on the paver surface. This is efflorescence, and it is common on Blanco concrete pavers within the first year in coastal air. It is cosmetic, not structural. It can be cleaned, but it recurs until the concrete finishes curing, which in Ventura’s humidity can take a full two years.
- Joints between pavers have opened up wider than a quarter inch. This points to a missing or failing joint compound. When joint material washes out, pavers shift, weeds establish, and the surface begins to spread at the edges.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full Blanco paver driveway installation in Ventura, we quote between $7,000 and $18,000. The range depends on driveway square footage, whether we’re removing an existing concrete slab, how much base material needs to be brought up to grade, and which Blanco line you choose. The Permeable series runs at the higher end because it requires a deeper aggregate base and specific joint spacing to meet Ventura’s stormwater standards.
For section repairs, where we lift and reset a failed area, recompact the base, and replace cracked pavers, expect $250 to $1,200. That includes the pavers, bedding sand, joint compound, edge restraint replacement if needed, and haul-away of the old material. We give you this price in writing before any work starts. The number on the paper is the number you pay. Graham Stein has been writing every scope this way since he started working in Ventura, and we don’t do change orders unless the homeowner asks for something new. Every repair carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the section shifts again within the year, we come back and make it right. No argument, no re-quote.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself. Walk the driveway after a rain and mark the low spots with chalk. Look at the edge paver near the apron and note whether it’s leaning. Flip a loose paver and read the stamp on the underside. Those three observations will tell you what you’re dealing with, and they’ll help us quote more accurately when you call.
What we don’t recommend is lifting and resetting pavers yourself if the section is larger than a few square feet. The work requires a plate compactor, and that piece of equipment is genuinely dangerous in the hands of someone who hasn’t run one. It weighs over 200 pounds and can kick hard when it’s started on an unlevel surface. Beyond the tool itself, the reason most DIY repairs fail in Ventura is the base. If you don’t recompact the subgrade before adding new bedding sand, the repair will sink again within a season. That’s not a paver problem. That’s a compaction problem. If you’re uncertain, call (341) 218-4316 and we’ll come out, look at what’s failed, and tell you honestly whether it’s a job for us or something a careful homeowner can handle. The estimate is free either way.
FAQs

A properly installed Blanco paver driveway in Ventura lasts 25 to 35 years, with UV fading becoming visible on the surface after about ten. The pavers themselves rarely fail. What fails is the base, the edge restraint, or the joint compound. If those three elements are installed correctly the first time, you will replace individual cracked pavers occasionally, not the whole driveway.
A hairline crack in a Blanco paver can be left alone if the paver is still seated and not rocking. But a crack that runs corner to corner will spread, and sealants that promise to glue the pieces together do not hold under Ventura’s sun and vehicle load. Replacement is the honest fix. A single paver usually costs $8 to $25, and the labor to swap it is straightforward. Call (341) 218-4316 and we’ll tell you whether yours is a candidate for leaving alone or a candidate for a fifty-dollar repair.
A standard section repair, lifting and resetting failed pavers, recompacting the base, and re-sanding the joints, takes one day for most residential areas up to about 200 square feet. Full driveway replacements in Ventura typically run three to five days, depending on access and base work. We’ll tell you the schedule in writing before the first board moves, and we keep the work contained to one section of the yard at a time so your family still has a place to park and the kids still have a clear path to the front door.
We keep the most common Blanco Classic 60mm pavers in two Ventura-standard colors on hand, along with edge restraints, bedding sand, and joint compound. Permeable line pavers are special ordered because the thickness and color availability change by supplier. We’ll confirm the lead time when we quote the job, and we won’t start work until the material is on site and inspected.
