Toto Home Additions & ADU: The Ventura Owner's Guide
When your Toto toilet or bidet seat starts acting up in the middle of a home addition or ADU project, you need the right part matched to your model and you need it installed correctly the first time. In Ventura, a Toto-specific part replacement typically runs between $180 and $450 installed, depending on the fill valve, flush valve, or washlet component involved. We stock the most common Toto parts on our trucks and can usually have your fixture working again the same day we diagnose it.
Most homeowners discover a Toto part has failed through one of three ways: the toilet keeps running long after the flush, the washlet seat won't heat or spray properly, or the flush has gotten weak and requires a second handle pull. None of these should be ignored. A running Toto can waste hundreds of gallons a month, and a failing washlet component left unaddressed can leak water onto your new bathroom floor in a home addition or ADU that's supposed to be move-in ready.
We're an independent remodeling and service provider, not affiliated with Toto. What that means for you is we replace the part honestly, install it to manufacturer spec, and put the price in writing before any work begins.
Which Toto Models This Applies To

Toto's lineup covers a broad range, and the part your fixture needs depends on which line you own. The three families we see most often in Ventura homes and ADUs are the Drake, the Ultramax, and the Washlet integrated units. The Drake uses a standard 3-inch flush valve, which is one of the most reliable Toto parts available, but the fill valve is model-specific. The Ultramax has a quieter, smoother flush mechanism, and its tower-style flush valve is not interchangeable with the Drake's flapper system.
Washlet seats are where compatibility gets tricky. Toto makes washlets in elongated and round bowl shapes, and the S550e, S500e, C5, and A2 series each use different internal parts for the heating element, pump, and control board. A washlet that fits a Drake won't necessarily fit a Nexus, and within washlet lines, the spray nozzle assembly from one generation will not seat correctly in another. If you're unsure which part you need, look for the model number printed inside the tank or on the underside of the seat lid. That number, plus a photo of the part itself, is usually enough for us to identify the right replacement before we arrive.
For most Toto mechanical parts, we recommend OEM. Toto's fill valves and flush valves are engineered to factory tolerances, and aftermarket equivalents we've tested in the past have occasionally caused ghost flushing or slow tank refills. For washlet accessories like water filters and remote batteries, quality aftermarket options work fine and save money.

Signs Your Toto Home Additions & ADU Is Failing
- The toilet runs for 10 minutes after every flush. This is almost always a degraded fill valve diaphragm or a flush valve seal that no longer sits flat. In Ventura's hard water conditions, mineral buildup accelerates this failure. The part is inexpensive; the wasted water is what gets expensive.
- Weak or incomplete flush that requires a second handle pull. The flush valve chain may have stretched, or the flapper/tower seal has hardened. In ADUs near the coast, salt air can age rubber seals faster than inland homes, which means what looks like a minor annoyance is often a seal that's about to fail completely.
- The washlet seat doesn't heat, spray, or dry. This points to a failed heating element, pump, or control board, depending on the model. Washlet circuit boards in particular are sensitive to the moisture and temperature swings we get in Ventura homes that aren't climate-controlled year-round.
- Water collecting around the base or under the tank. A bad tank-to-bowl gasket or a cracked fill valve shank is usually the culprit. Left alone, this quietly rots the subfloor in a home addition or ADU, and by the time you see staining on the ceiling below, the repair scope has grown well beyond a toilet part.
- Handle feels loose or the flush feels different week to week. The handle lever inside the tank can corrode or slip out of adjustment, especially in homes where kids use the bathroom daily. It's a small mechanical wear point, but it changes how the chain interfaces with the flush valve, leading to inconsistent performance.

AfterReplacement Cost & What's Included

In Ventura, Toto part replacement with installation runs between $180 and $450 for standard fill valves, flush valves, and washlet water filters. More involved washlet repairs like heating element or pump replacement fall between $250 and $600 depending on the washlet series. We give you the written price before the first tool leaves the truck, and that number includes the part, the labor, the trip, and the clean-up.
What drives the range is the part itself and access to the fixture. A Drake fill valve swap in an easily accessed bathroom is quick work. A washlet pump replacement in a tight ADU water closet with the toilet close to the wall takes longer and costs more. You'll never see a change order from us on a diagnosed part replacement. If the scope changes because we find something unexpected, we stop, take a photo, and put the revised number in writing before continuing.
DIY or Call Us?
Replacing a Toto fill valve or flapper is within reach for a confident homeowner with basic tools and a willingness to follow the Toto instructions exactly. The risk is mismatching the part or over-tightening the plastic threads, which cracks the fill valve shank and turns a $30 job into a $200 repair. Washlet internals are a different story. The heating element and pump sit inside a sealed unit with electrical connections, and opening a washlet without knowing the specific series layout can damage the control board or create a short. If you own a washlet, this is a job for someone who has swapped that exact part before, not a first-timer with a screwdriver.

FAQs

The mechanical parts, like fill valves and flush valves, typically last 6 to 10 years in Ventura homes, though hard water and coastal humidity can shorten that to 4 to 6 years for rubber seals. Washlet electronic components generally last 5 to 8 years before a heating element or pump needs replacement.
Call (341) 218-4316 if your Toto is outside those ranges and acting up. We'll replace it honestly and put the price in writing first.
In most cases, no. Toto fill valve diaphragms and flush valve seals are designed as replaceable assemblies, not rebuildable internals. We can sometimes clean a clogged washlet nozzle with a vinegar soak, which is an inexpensive first step before replacing the spray assembly.
If you're not sure whether your part is repairable, call (341) 218-4316. We'll tell you what we'd do in your situation, no appointment required for the answer.
A fill valve, flush valve, or washlet water filter replacement takes 45 minutes to an hour and a half on most Ventura jobs. Washlet pump or heating element replacements usually take 1 to 2 hours depending on the series and how much space there is around the fixture.

We keep the most common Drake and Ultramax fill valves, flush valves, and seals on our trucks, along with washlet water filters for the S550e and C5 series. Less common washlet internals may need to be ordered, which usually means a 2 to 3 business day lead time in Ventura.
Call (341) 218-4316 with your model number and we'll confirm what we have before we schedule the visit.
If your Toto fixture is part of a larger home addition or ADU remodel, we also work with named-brand materials throughout the project. Cabinets from KraftMaid, countertops from Cambria and Silestone, and fixtures from Kohler, Moen, and Grohe are all in the rotation. Whatever the scope, the written price comes before the first board moves. Call (341) 218-4316 to schedule your free estimate.
