IKO Driveway & Pavers: The Ventura Owner’s Guide
IKO driveway pavers and paver systems fail in predictable ways here in Ventura, and the fix usually comes down to matching the right replacement paver or edge restraint to your specific IKO product line. A typical IKO paver driveway repair or partial replacement in Ventura runs $700 – $4,500 depending on how many pavers have shifted, cracked, or sunk; a full paver driveway installation runs $7,000 – $18,000. Most owners discover the problem the same way: a paver rocks underfoot after rain, a low spot pools water against the garage slab, or the sand between pavers has washed out leaving gaps that catch the hose nozzle every time. Here’s what we see on IKO paver driveways throughout Ventura, how to tell if yours is at the failure point, and what an honest repair actually costs.
Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO manufactures paver systems under a few distinct lines, and the compatibility gotcha is that not every IKO paver is interchangeable, even when the top surface looks identical. IKO’s driveway-rated pavers typically come in 60mm and 80mm thicknesses; the 80mm units are rated for vehicular traffic, while 60mm pavers belong on walkways and patios. If someone patched your Ventura driveway with 60mm pavers, they may look fine for a season and then crack under the weight of a parked SUV. The fix means pulling the section back to the base and resetting with the correct thickness. We also match IKO’s paver dimensions precisely, most common are 4″×8″ and 6″×9″ formats, but IKO has produced metric-sized pavers in certain product runs that do not match imperial-sized aftermarket replacements. Before we quote a repair, we pull one paver from an inconspicuous edge and measure it. That one step has caught more mismatched jobs than any other.
We stock OEM IKO pavers for current production lines and quality aftermarket equivalents that match thickness, color blend, and surface texture for discontinued IKO products. We are an independent Ventura contractor, not affiliated with IKO, so we will tell you plainly when an aftermarket paver will match well and when you are better off paying for OEM so the repair does not telegraph itself as a patch. For older IKO paver driveways where the original line is no longer manufactured, we source through regional masonry suppliers that still hold inventory of specific color blends.

Signs Your IKO Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Pavers rock or shift when you step on them. This means the bedding sand has washed out or the edge restraint has let go. In Ventura, winter rains push water under the paver course and carry sand out through the unsealed edge, which is why the perimeter fails first.
- A low spot or birdbath forms after rain. The base underneath has settled or was never compacted correctly. Driveways near the Ventura foothills with expansive clay soil settle unevenly, and the pavers telegraph exactly where the base is weak.
- Sand is disappearing between joints. Polymeric sand fails over time, especially on driveways with any slope. Once the joints open up, pavers begin to drift, and the fix is not just re-sanding, it is re-setting the affected section first.
- Edge pavers are tilting outward along the driveway border. The edge restraint has failed. On a paver driveway, the edge is the system’s stake in the ground; when it lets go, the entire field begins to move outward from the pressure of vehicles.
- Cracks appear across multiple pavers in a wheel-path line. This is usually wrong-thickness pavers or an insufficient base for the load. We see this most often when a previous repair used walkway-rated pavers on a driveway.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Paver driveway projects in Ventura run from $7,000 for a smaller single-car driveway to $18,000 for a larger two-car driveway with borders and accents. Partial repairs and re-leveling jobs run $700 – $4,500 depending on square footage, base condition, and whether we are matching existing pavers or replacing the whole section. Concrete driveway installation runs $4,500 – $12,000 and asphalt paving runs $3,500 – $9,000, in case you are weighing a full replacement against repairing the IKO pavers you already have. Every quote from us includes the paver material, base work, edge restraint if needed, polymeric sand, and the labor, written as a line-item number before any work starts. You will know the cost of the pavers, the cost of the base repair, and the cost of the installation separately, because that is how a written price should work. We do not start a paver job without the number on paper, and that number does not change after the crew arrives.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely lift a single edge paver, check the thickness marking, and look at whether the base under it is sand, gravel, or dirt. That information helps you understand what you are dealing with. You can also re-sand joints with polymeric sand if the pavers are still tight and level. What we do not recommend is attempting to reset a sunken or shifted section yourself on a driveway. The base has to be excavated, re-compacted in lifts, and re-leveled with the correct slope so water runs away from the garage. Get that wrong and you will be back out there in a year with the same birdbath, or worse, with pavers that cracked under the car. If you are in Ventura and you want us to look at it, call (341) 218-4316. We will tell you honestly whether the section can be repaired or whether the whole driveway needs new base.
FAQs

IKO driveway pavers last 25 to 40 years here when the base is compacted correctly and the edge restraint holds, but the sand joints typically need attention every 5 to 8 years, and localized settlement may need a repair once or twice over that lifespan. Ventura’s wet winters and dry summers put extra stress on the sand joints and the base, so annual inspection of the edges catches problems before the field moves. Call (341) 218-4316 and we can look at your driveway in person.
Yes, in most cases individual sections of IKO pavers can be lifted, the base re-leveled, and the same pavers re-set, provided they are not cracked and the base was not the original problem. If the base has failed, we re-build it under the existing pavers rather than sending the whole driveway to the landfill. Call (341) 218-4316 for a repair estimate before you assume a full replacement.
A localized re-leveling or paver replacement usually takes one day; a full driveway installation takes 3 to 5 working days including base excavation, compaction, setting, and sanding. We schedule around your family’s routine and use quiet tools during nap and school hours where possible.
We stock current IKO paver sizes and color blends in our Ventura inventory, and we source discontinued IKO products through regional suppliers, usually within a few days. If you have an original pallet label or a photo of the paver next to a ruler, that helps us match it before the first visit. Call (341) 218-4316 with what you have and we will match it.
We also stock parts for KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria countertops, and Silestone surfaces if your project extends beyond the driveway.
