Atlas Driveway & Pavers: The Ventura Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Atlas-compatible driveway and paver replacement parts throughout Ventura, with most Atlas paver and driveway component swaps priced between $250 and $700 for sealing, and full paver driveway installation running $7,000 to $18,000. If you’re reading this, odds are you’ve noticed a cracked paver that’s starting to shift underfoot, or a section of your Atlas driveway has settled after the winter rains we get off the Pacific. Our crews carry the common Atlas replacement pavers, edge restraints, and sand fills on the truck, and we’ve saved more than a few Ventura homeowners from having to redo an entire driveway because one paver failed and took its neighbors with it.
Which Atlas Models This Applies To
The Atlas line we see most in Ventura breaks into two families: the interlocking concrete paver series (typically 60mm and 80mm thick units) and the permeable paver series, which several Midtown and Pier-area homes use to manage runoff on the marine clay that sits under much of the city. The compatibility gotcha is thickness: an 80mm Atlas paver cannot swap into a 60mm application, and mixing them creates a lip that will catch the toe of a kid’s shoe or a pet’s paw within a week. To identify yours, pull a damaged paver and measure its depth, then check the underside for the Atlas mold number stamped into the concrete. We recommend OEM Atlas units when the surrounding pavers came from the same lot, because California UV exposure ages concrete color differently, and an aftermarket match can look a shade off in direct Ventura sun. For edge restraints and sand fills, a quality aftermarket equivalent from the same spec range holds up well and comes in a bit lower on material cost.

Signs Your Atlas Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Pavers rock or tilt when you step on them. This usually means the sand bed underneath has washed out through a failed edge restraint, often after a heavy Ventura rain. The paver itself may be fine, but it’ll crack if left to seesaw for a season.
- A low spot collects water after the rain. In Ventura’s marine clay, this is often a compacted base that has settled unevenly. Water pooling accelerates paver shifting and leads to moss or algae in shaded parts of the driveway.
- Visible gaps are growing between pavers. Sand loss between joints is the first domino. Once the gaps open past a quarter inch, pavers begin to drift, and the joint sand disappears faster with every rain.
- Edge pavers are sliding outward toward the lawn or the street. This means the edge restraint has either broken or been grass-rooted out of place. Firmly restrained edges are what keep the whole Atlas field locked together.
- Cracks run through multiple pavers in a line. That’s usually a load issue, not a paver issue. If you park a heavy truck or an RV on a driveway built for passenger cars, the concentrated weight can crack an entire row over time.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Ventura, sealing an Atlas driveway runs $250 to $700, and that includes cleaning the surface, re-sanding the joints, and applying a sealing coat matched to the original finish. A full Atlas paver driveway installation runs $7,000 to $18,000, depending on square footage, base depth, and whether we’re working around tight Ventura side yards. When we’re swapping individual pavers or edge restraints, you’ll see the parts cost and the labor as separate line items on the written estimate, not bundled into a number you can’t question. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to driveway and paver work the same way it applies to a full kitchen remodel: if it’s not done right, we make it right. The written price we give you before any work starts is the price on the final bill. Graham Stein has always insisted on that, and it’s been the standard in Ventura for well over a decade.
DIY or Call Us?
Driveway and paver work is not high-tension like a garage spring or live wiring, so a capable homeowner can manage a single broken paver swap if they match the thickness and have the right joint sand on hand. Where DIY goes sideways is the base: pull a paver, spot the sand underneath has turned muddy or an ant colony has hollowed out the bed, and you’re now looking at lifting a whole section, re-compacting, and re-screeding. We’ve also seen owners try to match an Atlas color by eyeballing it at a supply yard and end up with a checkerboard driveway. If the issue is more than two or three pavers in one spot, give us a call at (341) 218-4316 and we’ll come look before it spreads.
FAQs

Atlas concrete pavers installed over a properly compacted base typically last 25 to 35 years in Ventura, though the surface finish will weather sooner in southern California sun. The base is the weak link, not the paver; most Ventura repairs we do are a failed base or edge restraint, not a failed paver unit.
A hairline crack can sometimes be stabilized with a color-matched filler, but a paver that has split through its full depth should be replaced, and the failure route matters more than the crack. If the paver split because the base washed out, replacing only the paver puts the same stress on the new one.
A small section repair that stays under about 40 square feet can usually be completed in one day in Ventura. If the base needs re-compacting, we add a day for the bedding layer to settle before the pavers go back down, and a full driveway replacement runs three to five days depending on access.
We stock common Atlas interlocking pavers, edge restraints, and joint sand on the truck, and we can source less common Atlas colors and the permeable series within a few days through our Ventura suppliers. If you can read us the mold number from the underside of a pulled paver, we can usually confirm stock before we schedule.
If your Atlas driveway or pavers are showing any of these signs, call (341) 218-4316 for a free estimate. We’ll measure, assess the base, and put the scope of work and the price in writing before any paver moves. Put it in writing before the first board moves.
