CGI Bathroom Remodeling: The Ventura Owner’s Guide

We install and service CGI bathroom remodeling work across Ventura, with most full CGI-spec bathroom remodels running between $9,000 and $28,000 depending on scope, materials, and what’s behind the walls. If you’re reading this, you likely have a CGI product in your bath – a shower valve trim, a tub filler, a handheld mount, or a finish plate – and something has failed, leaked, seized, or simply stopped matching the rest of the room. We’re an independent Ventura remodeling contractor, not a CGI affiliate, which means we tell you honestly what’s worth replacing, what’s worth upgrading, and what the part actually costs before any tool comes off the truck.

Call (341) 218-4316

The moment most Ventura homeowners notice a CGI failure is subtle: a drip that won’t quit, a handle that turns too far or not far enough, a finish that’s peeling at the edges near the coast. By the time it’s obvious, the cartridge, stem, or seal has usually been degrading for months. The good news is that most CGI bathroom components are serviceable with the right parts, and we keep the common ones on the truck for Ventura calls.

Which CGI Models This Applies To

CGI (Custom Glass Industries) is known in the trade for shower glass, enclosures, and bath hardware – and depending on the fixture line originally installed in your Ventura home, the parts catalog changes. We’ve worked on CGI shower door rollers, hinges, seals, handles, and the metal finish kits that pair with them. The compatibility gotcha owners hit most often: CGI door hardware is not always universal across frame thicknesses. A roller assembly spec’d for a 3/8-inch glass panel will not seat correctly on a 5/16-inch panel, and forcing it strips the mounting hole and scores the glass. We measure the glass thickness and the roller wheel diameter before ordering anything.

We also see older CGI tub-shower trim lines where the cartridge seat dimensions shifted between production years. A handle kit from a 2012 unit will not fit a 2019 valve body without an adapter, and sometimes not even then. When the part number is readable on the escutcheon or the valve body, we match it exactly. When it’s not, we photograph the assembly, measure the stem, and check it against CGI’s spec sheets before quoting the replacement. Aftermarket equivalents exist for common seals and sweeps, and we’ll recommend them when they meet the same durometer and finish spec. For anything load-bearing – hinges, roller brackets, glass clamps – we use OEM CGI parts, no exceptions. Schneider and Haber have both had a moment in the Ventura market with cheap aftermarket rollers, and we’ve seen too many door panels sag because of it.

Signs Your CGI Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • The shower door sticks or drags across the curb. This is almost always a roller bearing wearing out – the wheel stops spinning freely, then the nylon or brass hub grinds against the track. Left alone, it scores the track and the door starts leaning. In coastal Ventura air, salt accelerates the bearing failure.
  • Water dribbles from the bottom of the glass when the door is closed. The sweep or drip rail is cracked, hardened, or missing. Silicone seals break down faster in homes within a mile of Ventura’s marine layer, especially on west-facing bathrooms that catch afternoon sun.
  • The handle turns but nothing bites. This usually means the spline inside the handle has stripped against the valve stem. It’s a quick part swap if caught early. If ignored, the stripped splines chew up the stem, and now you’re replacing the valve body, not just the handle.
  • You see water staining or white crust at the wall plate. The o-ring behind the escutcheon has failed. This is one of the most common CGI failures we see in older Ventura homes, because the original plumber’s putty dried out years ago and the seal has been leaking behind the plate silently. The fix is a new seal and plate, but the wall cavity may need a look.
  • The glass finish has cloudy patches that don’t wipe off. This is hard water etching from Ventura’s mineral-heavy municipal supply, compounded by the marine air. It’s not always a replacement part – sometimes the glass can be restored – but if the etching has reached the CGI coating beneath, the panel needs reglazing or replacement.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A walk-in shower with large-format tile and a built-in niche

Ventura pricing for CGI bathroom work breaks into two buckets. A single part replacement – a handle assembly, a roller kit, a sweep, a seal – typically runs $150 to $600 installed, including the part and the trip. A fuller CGI bathroom remodeling job, where we’re replacing the shower glass, the trim, the valve, and often the surrounding tile and framing, lands between $9,000 and $28,000. Here’s what drives that range:

  • $9,000 – $14,000: A standard 5×8 Ventura bathroom with a CGI tub-shower replacement, mid-range fixtures, and existing plumbing kept in place.
  • $14,000 – $20,000: A larger space, custom CGI glass enclosure, new valve body and supply lines, and tile work on the wet wall and floor.
  • $20,000 – $28,000: A full gut including plumbing relocates, custom CGI frameless glass, wall-hung or premium vanity install, and heated flooring if requested.

Every quote is written, line by line, before any work starts. You’ll see the part number, the part cost, the labor hours, and the final number. Nobody in Ventura should be agreeing to a bathroom remodel where the price lives in the estimator’s head. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the completed work – if a CGI roller we installed fails within a year, we come back and make it right, no invoice, no argument.

DIY or Call Us?

Some things are safe to check yourself. You can clean the track with white vinegar, tighten a loose handle set screw with the right Allen key, or reseat a sweep that’s slipped out of its channel. We’ll walk you through any of that on the phone at (341) 218-4316 if you want a second set of ears.

What you shouldn’t do is remove a shower door panel. A tempered glass panel for a CGI enclosure weighs 60 to 90 pounds, and when the hinges release, the glass wants to pivot at the worst possible angle. We’ve had to re-cut openings in Ventura homes where a homeowner cracked a panel trying to service a roller themselves, and the glass replacement cost four times what the roller kit would have. If the door is sagging, binders are loosening, or a hinge pin is walking out, call us. We’ll bring the right suction cups, the right shims, and a second set of hands. The inspection and quote are free.
