CWS Bathroom Remodeling: The Ventura Owner’s Guide
We install and support CWS bathroom fixtures across Ventura, and a full remodel of a CWS-fitted bathroom typically runs $9,000 – $28,000 here, depending on tile, glass, and plumbing scope. Most owners call us when a specific piece has failed: a CWS vanity top chipped at the corner, a CWS shower door off its track, or a CWS tub surround delaminating at the seam. Our crew stocks common CWS-compatible replacement components on the truck, and we can spec the exact part match before the first wall panel comes down.
Here’s what’s worth knowing before you call: CWS manufactured bathroom fixtures under several series names, and the mounting hardware and drain positions are not universal across those lines. We learned this the slow way on a Midtown Ventura condo where a newer CWS pedestal sink looked identical to the old one until we tried to line up the supply lines. The specs were off by an inch and a half. Since then we measure every fixture before ordering a replacement, and we write the part number on the estimate so you can verify it yourself. Elmstead Remodeling Ventura is an independent contractor; we are not affiliated with CWS, but we work with their product lines regularly and know where the weak points are.
Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS bathroom fixtures in Ventura homes typically fall into one of three series families: the builder-grade CWS Standard line (common in tract housing around East Ventura and the Avenue area), the mid-range CWS Select series (more common in Midtown and Poinsettia Homes remodels from the 1990s and early 2000s), and the less common CWS Signature line, which used higher-gauge metal on the vanity frames and thicker porcelain on the basins. The repair path is different for each.
The fastest way to confirm your series is to pull the bottom drawer on a CWS vanity and look for a foil label on the drawer box or the inside cabinet wall. It will show a model prefix like CS, CST, or CW-SG. If the label is gone, measure the rough opening width of the vanity cabinet: Standard series runs 24, 30, or 36 inches wide, Select runs 31 or 37 inches, and Signature is almost always custom-width. For tub surrounds and shower walls, look at the seam overlap. CWS Standard panels overlap by half an inch; Select and Signature panels use a tongue-and-groove lip. Mixing an aftermarket panel into a Select or Signature surround usually leaves a visible ridge at the seam. For OEM CWS parts on older series, availability is spotty; we often recommend Kohler or Moen hardware as a quality aftermarket alternative, since the rough-in dimensions match the CWS Standard and Select layouts closely.

Signs Your CWS Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Vanity top stress cracks radiating from the faucet holes. CWS Standard tops are a thin-cast acrylic, and years of faucet torque plus Ventura’s hard water mineral buildup creates micro-movement at the mount. The crack usually widens slowly, then a leak starts and rots the cabinet deck underneath.
- Shower door rollers grinding or skipping on the track. CWS framed shower doors use a nylon roller that wears flat on the bottom edge. Coastal moisture in Ventura accelerates the wear, and by the time you hear it, the door is scraping aluminum into the track.
- Tub surround panels flexing away from the wall. The adhesive CWS used on Standard series surrounds dries out after 12 to 18 years, especially on south-facing walls that get afternoon heat. You’ll feel a soft spot if you press the panel at chest height.
- Slow drain at the tub that snaking won’t fix. CWS Standard tubs use a 1.5-inch waste pipe with a shallow slope in the factory drain assembly. Hair and soap accumulate at the CWS drum trap, which is a part other manufacturers design differently. If your drain looks clear but still backs up, the trap is the culprit.
- Vanity door hinges pulling out of the cabinet face. CWS Standard vanities use 5/8-inch particle board for the door frames. Once the hinge screws strip, the door sags and won’t close square. The fix is not a longer screw; the board is done.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full CWS fixture replacement with our installation runs:
- CWS vanity top replacement with new faucet: $800 – $3,000 installed
- CWS tub-to-shower conversion with tile or solid-surface walls: $3,500 – $10,000 installed
- CWS surround panel replacement (one wall section): $600 – $1,400 installed
- Full bathroom remodel that replaces CWS fixtures throughout: $9,000 – $28,000 installed
What drives the range in Ventura is wall tile versus solid-surface panels, shower glass thickness, and whether the existing floor needs leveling. We write the full price on paper before any work starts: the part number, the labor, the disposal, the drop cloths, the quiet hours. There’s no change order waiting in the third week. Our work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the new CWS replacement isn’t done right, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check the label inside your vanity drawer, measure the width of the cabinet, and photograph the shower roller and track. That’s useful information to have ready when you call. What I’d keep you away from is pulling a CWS tub surround panel off the wall to inspect the adhesive. If you loosen a surround panel without releasing it at the corner joints, the panel can crack under its own weight, and you’ll turn a $700 repair into a full surround replacement. Also leave the shower door alone. A framed CWS shower door carries real weight, and the tension on a misaligned hinge can let the glass drop when the last screw comes out. Glass cuts are serious and the door is unforgiving. If you suspect a failing surround or door, call us at (341) 218-4316 and we’ll come look at it.
FAQs

In our experience, CWS Standard series fixtures last 12 to 18 years in Ventura’s coastal climate before a notable failure, while Select and Signature lines hold closer to 20 or 25 years. Ventura’s hard water shortens faucet cartridge life and leaves deposits on CWS acrylic tops faster than inland areas. If your CWS vanity or surround is past that age and showing the signs above, a replacement plan now costs less than an emergency repair later. Call (341) 218-4316 and we’ll give you an honest read.
We can repair a surface hairline crack with an acrylic bonding agent, but it’s a visible fix and usually lasts only a year or two on a CWS Standard top. If the crack has reached the faucet hole, the top is done. Replacement is the better long-term call. We’ll show you the repair option and the replacement quote side by side so you decide with the numbers in front of you.
A vanity top swap is one day. A tub surround panel replacement is one to two days. A tub-to-shower conversion runs three to four working days. We schedule around your family’s nap and school hours where possible, and the crew uses quiet tools during rest times. The clean-up photo is included before we leave, every day.
We stock common CWS Standard hinges, roller kits, and drain assemblies on the truck, plus Kohler and Moen faucet cartridges that match CWS rough-ins. For CWS Select and Signature parts we order OEM or verified aftermarket pieces once we’ve confirmed your series and measurements. We also keep replacement components on hand for KraftMaid cabinets, Cambria countertops, and Silestone surfaces, since those brands often appear alongside CWS fixtures in older Ventura remodels.
If you own a CWS bathroom fixture in Ventura and something is failing, we’ll match the part, put the price in writing before the first board moves, and leave your bathroom cleaner than we found it. That’s the rule on every job, and it’s been our rule for a long time. Call (341) 218-4316 to schedule a free estimate.
