Jerith Fence Installation: The Ventura Owner’s Guide
Jerith fence installation in Ventura typically runs $3,500 – $9,000 for a complete residential project, with most families we serve paying on the lower half of that range for a standard backyard perimeter. We stock Jerith-compatible posts, panels, gates, and hardware, and can usually start within a week of your initial call. Most owners discover their Jerith fence needs attention the same way: a gate that starts dragging, a post that leans after a winter storm, or a bottom rail that’s quietly corroding where the sprinklers hit it every morning.
Which Jerith Models This Applies To
Jerith manufactures aluminum fence systems in three residential lines: the Residential line (lighter gauge, 54″ and 60″ heights), the Industrial line (heavier pickets for pool and commercial code compliance), and the Sentinel line (decorative spear-top options commonly seen in Ventura’s older hillside neighborhoods). The residential models are by far the most common in our area. If you’re not sure which line you have, look at the top rail: Jerith stamps most manufacturing codes inside the top rail channel, and the picket spacing (typically 3-7/8″ on residential, 3-5/8″ on Industrial) is a reliable tell. The important compatibility detail is this: Jerith posts are sized to their specific line, and a Residential panel will not seat properly in an Industrial post without shimming, which we refuse to do because it compromises the gate swing over time. OEM Jerith parts are worth buying when you’re matching an existing installed fence for visual continuity. For full replacements, we’ve had good results with quality aftermarket aluminum that meets the same gauge spec, and it can trim 10-15% off material cost without changing the look from six feet away.

Signs Your Jerith Fence Installation Is Failing
- Gate drags or won’t latch. This is almost always a post that’s shifted out of plumb. In Ventura’s expansive clay soil, especially near the Avenue and east side, posts move seasonally as the ground swells and shrinks. A gate that scrapes in January but swings fine in July is a post problem, not a hinge problem.
- White chalky residue on pickets. That’s aluminum oxide, the early stage of powder coat failure. We see it most on fences within a block of the coast, where salt air works through micro-scratches faster than inland Ventura. Once the coating fails, the aluminum underneath pits within two to three years.
- Loose or rattling pickets. Jerith uses friction-fit pickets in punched top and bottom rails. When a rail gets dented (lawn mower, baseball, a dog at full speed), the pickets lose their grip. One loose picket usually means the rail is deformed, not just the picket.
- Post wobbles when you push it. This is the one to take seriously, especially on any fence section holding a gate. The post has lost its footing in the concrete footer, and every swing of the gate amplifies the movement. Left alone, the post leans and the fence panels torque.
- Rust staining at the post base. Aluminum doesn’t rust, so if you see reddish-brown staining here, the post was set with steel hardware that’s corroding, or the concrete footer is holding water against the post. In older Ventura neighborhoods with high water tables, this is more common than you’d think.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Full Jerith fence installation in Ventura runs $3,500 – $9,000 installed, and the spread comes down to three things: linear footage, the Jerith line you’re matching, and what’s happening underground. Here’s how the numbers usually break down:
- Partial section replacement (one to three panels, one post): $600 – $1,800
- Gate replacement only (single or double gate with new posts): $900 – $2,400
- Standard backyard perimeter (150 – 200 linear feet, Residential line): $4,200 – $6,500
- Larger or hillside lot with grade changes and extra posts: $6,500 – $9,000
Every quote from us includes the concrete footers, post setting, panel installation, gate hardware, and haul-away of the old fence. We write the price down before any work starts, and that number doesn’t move unless we find something genuinely unpredictable underground, which we’d tell you about and get your okay on before spending another dollar. Our work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the gate drags or a post shifts within a year of install, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
Aluminum fence panels are straightforward to handle, but the part where DIY projects go wrong in Ventura is the post setting. A residential fence post in clay soil needs a footer 24 – 30 inches deep and 8 – 10 inches in diameter, and it has to be set with the top perfectly level in both directions before the concrete cures. If that’s off by half a degree, the gate binds, and you’re breaking out a fresh footer six months later. You can safely check the obvious things yourself: look for cracked post collars, test the gate swing, walk the line and note any posts that have moved. What we’d ask you not to do is dig out a wobbly gate post and reset it on a Saturday. That post holds the weight of a swinging gate, and a failed secondary brace during the process can send it over, which is a lot of risk for one afternoon of saved labor. If the fence section is just cosmetic damage, a picket or a cap, sure, order the part and pop it in. If the posts or gate are involved, call us at (341) 218-4316 and we’ll get it measured and priced.
FAQs

A properly installed Jerith fence with intact powder coat should last 20 – 30 years in the Ventura area, with two caveats: fences within a mile of the coast typically need new hardware (hinges, latches, post caps) at the 8 – 10 year mark due to salt air, and fences irrigated by hard sprinkler water will show bottom rail corrosion much sooner in soil-heavy areas like the east end. Call (341) 218-4316 for a quick hardness check on your specific section.
It depends on the dent. A small picket dent from a rock or a tool can sometimes be worked out with a rubber mallet and a flat block, but a bent top or bottom rail almost always means replacing the full panel, because the rail extrusion won’t straighten without fatiguing the metal. The good news is that matching a Jerith panel by line and height is straightforward, and we can usually order it within a week.
For a standard backyard perimeter, most Ventura jobs are done in two to three working days from first footer to final gate adjustment. Gate-only replacements are typically a half day. We’ll give you a specific timeline in writing before we start, and we keep the job site quiet during early morning hours as much as we can. If you have kids napping or a dog that loses its mind at a hammer drill, tell us and we’ll work around it.
We keep common Jerith-compatible posts, hinges, latches, post caps, and gate frames in our local supply, and we can pull from our Ventura distributor network for anything we don’t have within two to four days. If you’re on a tight timeline for a pool fence or a security fence, mention that on the call and we’ll tell you what’s available same-week before you commit. Call (341) 218-4316 and we’ll check inventory while you’re on the line.
