ActiveYards Driveway & Pavers: The Ventura Owner’s Guide
If you have an ActiveYards driveway or paver system and a section has failed, we can match the part, quote the replacement honestly, and install it correctly. ActiveYards paver driveway installations in Ventura typically run $7,000 to $18,000 for a full system, but a targeted paver or edge-restraint replacement is usually far less. Most owners discover the problem the same way: a paver sinks after heavy rain, an edge restraint pulls loose where the driveway meets the lawn, or a section shifts and creates a trip hazard near the front walk.
We stock common ActiveYards-compatible paver sizes and edge restraints on our trucks, and we can source model-specific pieces within a few days. Graham Stein and our crew have been working driveways in Ventura long enough to know which failures are real and which ones just need a little releveling.
Which ActiveYards Models This Applies To

ActiveYards builds paver and driveway systems in modular sections, which means the part you need depends on which series your system came from. Their paver lines vary in thickness: residential driveway pavers are typically 60mm to 80mm thick, while walkway and patio pavers run thinner at 40mm to 50mm. If you install a thinner paver in a driveway section, it will crack under vehicle weight within a season or two. That’s the compatibility gotcha we see most often in Ventura.
To identify your paver, check the underside of a loose piece if you have one. ActiveYards stamps a mold number and sometimes a date code on the bottom edge. If the stamp is worn, measure the paver’s width, length, and thickness in millimeters and match it against the ActiveYards catalog for your series. For edge restraints and spike systems, the profile shape matters more than the color: ActiveYards uses a few different restraint profiles depending on whether the edge runs along concrete, soil, or landscape bed. We also work with quality aftermarket equivalents where the OEM part is discontinued or backordered, and we’ll tell you plainly when an aftermarket paver is a close enough match in color and profile, and when it isn’t.
Beyond ActiveYards, we regularly handle parts and finishes from KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone on our remodeling projects, so matching manufactured product lines to existing installations is part of how we work every day.

Signs Your ActiveYards Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- A single paver sits lower than its neighbors after rain. This usually means the base underneath has washed out or settled. In Ventura, winter storms are the most common trigger, especially on driveways with any slope toward the street.
- The edge restraint has pulled away from the paver field. When the plastic or aluminum restraint loosens, pavers start drifting outward. You’ll see a widening gap along the driveway edge, often where the lawn meets the hardscape.
- Sand between pavers washes out repeatedly. If you’re sweeping polymeric sand back into the joints every few months, the joint material has failed or was never activated properly. Left unfilled, pavers begin to rock under foot and tire.
- A paver is cracked but still in place. On a driveway, this usually means a thin paver was installed, or there’s a void underneath from base settlement. The crack will spread if traffic continues over it.
- Water pools in one section of the driveway after a normal rain. This points to a slope or base problem rather than a paver problem, but it degrades the base over time and eventually causes the pavers themselves to shift.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full paver driveway installation in Ventura runs $7,000 to $18,000 depending on square footage, paver thickness, and how much base preparation the existing ground requires. A targeted repair, like replacing a sunken section or resetting edge restraints, is considerably less: most partial repairs we quote fall between $400 and $2,500, depending on how deep the base problem goes and how many pavers need resetting.
Every quote includes the parts, the base material, the labor, and the haul-away of old material, written into one number before any work starts. We don’t give a range and then revise it upward once the crew is on site. If we find a base failure under the pavers, we’ll show you what we found, explain what it means, and give you the revised number in writing before we touch it. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right after the job is complete, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
There are a few things an owner can safely check: whether a paver is visibly cracked, whether the edge restraint has separated, and whether sand is washing out of the joints. You can also take a photo with a ruler for reference and send it to us before you decide anything. What we don’t recommend is pulling pavers yourself, especially on a driveway. Lifting one paver on a settled base often shifts the pieces around it, and if you’re working near the edge where the driveway drops off, gravity is not your friend. Releveling a driveway section properly means removing the pavers, correcting the base with new material, compacting it, and resetting everything to the original slope. That’s a job for a crew with the right plate compactor and the patience to get the grade right.

FAQs

ActiveYards driveway pavers typically last 20 to 30 years in Ventura’s coastal climate when installed on a proper compacted base. The biggest threats here are winter rain saturating the base and tree roots from mature Ventura landscaping, which can lift sections over time.
A cracked paver cannot be repaired; it needs to be replaced. The good news is that replacing one or two pavers is usually straightforward if we can match the series and color. Call (341) 218-4316 and we’ll match it from your photos.
Most partial driveway repairs in Ventura take one day, including excavation of the failed base, recompaction, paver resetting, and joint sand. Full driveway replacements typically run three to five working days, depending on access and square footage.
We stock common 60mm and 80mm driveway paver sizes and edge restraint profiles on our trucks. Odd colors or discontinued series pieces take a few days to source. Call us with the paver dimensions and we’ll tell you what’s available before you schedule anything.
If your ActiveYards driveway or paver system has a failing section, call (341) 218-4316 for a free estimate. We’ll put the scope, the materials, and the final number in writing before the first board moves. That’s how we’ve always done it here in Ventura.
