KraftMaid Fence Installation: The Ventura Owner’s Guide

KraftMaid fence installation in Ventura typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 installed, depending on fence length, gate hardware, and post-setting conditions. We stock KraftMaid-compatible fence panels and hardware on our trucks, so most installations start the same week we give you the written price. The way most Ventura homeowners discover a problem is small at first: a gate that drags on the concrete after a rain, a post that leans a half-inch more each season, or a panel that starts rattling when the afternoon wind comes up from the coast.

Here’s something worth knowing before you replace anything: KraftMaid’s fence systems are built around specific post dimensions and panel widths that don’t always play well with off-the-shelf lumber-yard parts. A post that looks identical at a glance can leave a gate swinging crooked or a panel that won’t seat flush. That’s the reason we keep KraftMaid-spec components on hand rather than improvising with whatever the local supply yard has in stock on a Tuesday.

Which KraftMaid Models This Applies To

An open kitchen and dining area after a remodel

KraftMaid builds fencing in three main lines: Classic, Estate, and Pro Series. The Classic line uses 4×4 posts with 6-foot by 6-foot panels. The Estate line steps up to 5×5 posts and 8-foot panels, which means the post holes have to be deeper and the concrete footings wider. The Pro Series is KraftMaid’s commercial-grade line, thicker rails and heavier gauge brackets, and it’s the one we see most often on larger Ventura properties up in the hills where the wind loads are higher than along the flatlands.

The quickest way to identify what you have is to look at the post cap. KraftMaid stamps their caps on the underside with a two-letter series code: CL for Classic, ES for Estate, PR for Pro Series. If the cap is missing or weathered, measure the post width and panel height and we can match it from there. One compatibility gotcha we’ve run into in Ventura more than once: KraftMaid changed their gate bracket spacing in 2019, so a replacement gate from the current catalog won’t hang correctly on a pre-2019 post without an adapter plate. It’s a small part, but skipping it leaves a gate that sags within a season.

Note on our relationship with the brand: Elmstead Remodeling Ventura is an independent service provider, not an affiliate of KraftMaid. We install and repair their fence systems because we’ve found them to hold up well in our coastal climate, and because the manufacturer’s warranty travels with parts we source directly.

Signs Your KraftMaid Fence Installation Is Failing

  • A gate that drags or won’t latch after rain. Ventura’s clay-heavy soil expands when wet and contracts when dry. If the post footings weren’t set below the local frost line and into stable soil, the whole post assembly shifts seasonally and the gate geometry goes with it.
  • Posts leaning away from the prevailing wind. The afternoon wind coming off the Pacific pushes consistently from the west. A post that was set right at the edge of its footing starts leaning within two to three seasons, and once it’s off vertical by more than a few degrees, no hinge adjustment will fix the gate swing.
  • Rust streaks at bracket connections. Salt air is hard on any powder-coated hardware. KraftMaid’s brackets are galvanized, but once the coating is scratched during installation or by a weed trimmer, the steel underneath starts going. We see this a lot on fences within a few miles of the beach.
  • Panels that rattle in wind. KraftMaid panels are designed to seat into routed channels on the posts. When a post shifts or the channel gets packed with debris, the panel loses its seat and you’ll hear it when the onshore breeze picks up in the afternoon.
  • Rot at the post base, especially near irrigation. Even pressure-treated posts break down when they sit in constantly damp soil. In Ventura yards with sprinkler heads placed close to the fence line, we regularly see post bases soft enough to push a screwdriver through by hand within five to seven years.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled kitchen with a waterfall island and wood cabinets

For a KraftMaid fence installation in Ventura, the installed price range covers what you get:

Scope Typical Installed Range
Partial repair: replace 2-4 posts, reseat panels, rehang gate $1,200 – $2,800
Single gate replacement with new hardware and post reinforcement $800 – $1,600
Full fence installation, 50 – 75 linear feet, one gate $3,500 – $6,500
Full fence installation, 75 – 150 linear feet, two gates, hillside grading $6,000 – $9,000

Every quote we write includes the parts, the labor, the concrete, the hardware, and the clean-up. No line item shows up later that wasn’t on the first page. What moves the number is mostly three things: linear footage, what the post holes hit (Ventura’s rocky hillsides take longer to dig than flat sandy lots), and whether we’re replacing an existing KraftMaid system or starting fresh. All work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something’s not right after the job is complete, we make it right.

DIY or Call Us?

What you can safely do yourself: check the series code on your post caps, measure the panel widths and post dimensions, photograph any visible damage at the base or brackets, and clear vegetation away from the fence line so we can see what we’re working with. That’s useful and it costs you nothing.

Where DIY goes wrong on fence installation is in the post setting. Getting a post to stand true today is not the hard part. Getting it to stay true through three years of Ventura’s wet winters and dry summers requires the right footing depth, the right concrete mix, and patience during the cure. We’ve replaced more than one DIY fence where the posts were set beautifully for about eight months. Also, any time you’re pulling out a failing post, you’re working with weight and leverage in a hole, which is a good way to hurt your back or worse. If you’d rather not find out, call (341) 218-4316 and we’ll send someone out to look at it.
