Techo-Bloc Driveway & Pavers: The Ventura Owner’s Guide
Techo-Bloc driveway and paver installation in Ventura typically runs $7,000 – $18,000 for a full driveway, and most paver repairs or replacements can be scheduled within a few days of your call. We keep common Techo-Bloc pavers and matching edge restraints on our trucks, so a damaged section doesn’t have to sit torn up for weeks. The usual discovery is simple: a paver sinks after heavy rain, an edge row starts creeping toward the lawn, or a section of the driveway settles enough that a stroller wheel catches it every morning.
Which Techo-Bloc Models This Applies To

Techo-Bloc builds its paver lines around specific series and dimensional footprints, and that’s where compatibility gets tricky. The Blu 60 paver, for example, measures 6 inches by 9 inches but interlocks on a different spacing than the larger Blu 80, so you can’t swap one for the other without recutting the edge course. The Antika and Tradition series share a color palette but not a texture, which matters when a replacement paver sits next to ten-year-old originals. To identify what you have, flip a loose paver and look for the Techo-Bloc stamp, then measure the paver thickness. Most Ventura driveways use 60mm or 80mm pavers; the thinner 60mm units are fine for foot traffic but will crack under a delivery truck, which is exactly what we see on older installs near the Ventura Pier where owners repaved a patio but used the same material for the driveway approach. Techo-Bloc also sells its own polymeric sand and edge restraints, and while quality aftermarket edge restraints exist, the Techo-Bloc version seats the paver lip differently. We’ll match what you have before we order a single unit.
We’re an independent Ventura contractor, not affiliated with Techo-Bloc, but Graham Stein has been matching and installing these exact paver systems for more than a decade around town. If you’re also weighing cabinet or countertop work while we’re out, we carry KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone lines too.

Signs Your Techo-Bloc Driveway & Pavers Are Failing
- Edge creep toward the lawn or curb. The outside course of pavers drifts outward, usually because the original edge restraint was plastic and snapped underground. Once that edge lets go, every freeze-thaw cycle and rain event pushes the field of pavers wider.
- Sinking spots that hold water after rain. This points to base failure underneath, not a bad paver. In Ventura’s clay-heavy soil, water saturates the base and the fines wash out, leaving a void that the paver falls into.
- Chipped or spalled paver surfaces. The face of the paver starts flaking, which is usually from incorrectly sawn edges or de-icing salts. Teco-Bloc pavers are dense but not immune to salt, and we see it most on driveways near the coast.
- Polymeric sand washing out between joints. When the sand between pavers disappears after a winter, weeds and ants move in. The pavers themselves may still be fine, but the interlock is gone and the system starts shifting.
- Visible cracks running straight across multiple pavers. This is a base settlement line, not a series of bad pavers. It usually means a utility trench was backfilled without compaction decades ago, and the ground is still settling along that line.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
A full paver driveway installation in Ventura ranges $7,000 – $18,000 depending on size, access, and whether we’re reusing the base or digging a new one. Repairs to a section of failed pavers typically land lower, but no responsible contractor quotes a repair over the phone without seeing the base layer. What drives the range on a full install: total square footage, how much excavation and export is needed, whether we’re matching existing Techo-Bloc pavers or starting fresh with a new series, and whether the front yard allows equipment access or we’re hand-carrying pavers through a side gate. Every quote from us includes the paver material, base prep, edge restraints, polymeric sand, and a written cleanup plan: drop cloths where we walk through the house, shoe covers at the door, and a photo of the finished cleanup before we leave. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the completed work, and the written price you get before we start is the price you’ll see on the final invoice.
DIY or Call Us?
There are things you can safely check yourself before calling anyone. You can lift one sunken paver with a flat pry bar and look at the base underneath. You can photograph the paver stamp so a contractor knows exactly what series and size you have. You can check whether the edge restraint on the failing side is exposed or broken. What we’d caution against is rebuilding a section of your driveway with a stack of new pavers and fresh sand without addressing the base, because the same failure comes back within a year and you’ve spent every weekend on your knees for nothing. And if your driveway slopes toward the street or the paver area includes a gas line or water meter box, that’s not a weekend project. Call us at (341) 218-4316 and we’ll come measure, check the base, and put the price in writing before the first board moves.
FAQs

Techo-Bloc pavers on a properly compacted base will hold their color and structure for 25 to 40 years in the Ventura climate. The pavers themselves rarely fail, what fails is the base or the edge restraint, and that’s the part worth getting right the first time. Call (341) 218-4316 if you want us to inspect an existing driveway before you commit to patching it.
Usually yes, if the pavers in that section are still intact and the failure is limited to base settlement or a broken edge restraint. We lift the affected area, fix the base, reset the pavers, and redo the joints with fresh polymeric sand. What we won’t do is quote a repair price before seeing the site, because a few sunken pavers at the surface can hide a much wider base problem. Estimates are free; call (341) 218-4316.
A standard two-car Techo-Bloc driveway in Ventura takes our crew 3 to 7 working days from excavation to final sanding. Weather and base conditions can add a day, but we’ll tell you the planned sequencing in the written quote so you know when the driveway is usable again. Want an exact timeline? We’ll scope it on site and put the schedule in writing.
We keep common Techo-Bloc pavers and edge restraints on hand for repairs, including the 60mm and 80mm units most often used on Ventura driveways. Odd colors and larger-format pavers may need a special order, which we handle with a written lead time before you commit. Call (341) 218-4316 and tell us the color and thickness, and we’ll confirm what we can bring same week.
