Why Ventura Homeowners Choose Toto Construction
We’re an independent Ventura Toto service provider, and our crews work daily with the Aquia, Drake, and Promenade lines in local remodels. We install, repair, retrofit, and replace Toto fixtures using OEM parts where flush performance or warranty integrity is at stake, and we write every scope of work on paper before a single drop cloth goes down. That means you get a written price for your Toto service or installation before any work starts, not an estimate that grows after the crew arrives.
We’re not affiliated with or authorized by Toto, and we say that plainly. What we bring is hands-on field experience with how Toto’s skirted Aquia bowls and high-performance Drake toilets actually behave in Toto in Moorpark and Ventura’s shifting slabs and hard-water conditions. That’s knowledge you won’t find on a national Toto page. If you own a Toto fixture that needs service, call us at (341) 218-4316 and we’ll schedule a free estimate.
Why Trust Elmstead Remodeling Ventura for Your Toto Construction?

Every Elmstead Remodeling Ventura technician is background-checked and uniformed, so you know exactly who is walking into your home. More than that, our crews have spent years working on Toto fixtures specifically. We know the difference between a Drake CST744S and a CST746S, and we know that an Aquia’s hidden mounting flange behaves very differently on a 1920s raised foundation in Midtown than it does on a 1970s slab off Victoria Avenue. That familiarity means we diagnose faster, order the right part the first time, and don’t experiment on your bathroom.
Graham Stein, our owner, learned framing, finish work, and structural plan reading at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College before he ever picked up a client’s key, and he’s been doing remodeling work in Ventura for well over a decade. He’s known around town for writing every scope of work onto paper before a single drop cloth goes down, and that habit applies to a simple Toto flapper replacement as much as a full bathroom gut. Put it in writing before the first board moves.
We also bring the Cedarwell Care Promise to every Toto job: shoe covers and drop cloths inside the house, a photo of the clean-up before the crew leaves, quiet tools during family rest hours where possible, and pet-safe product choices where available. The written price comes first, always.

Common Toto Construction Problems We Fix in Ventura
These are the Toto repair in Simi Valley and Ventura failure modes we see most often, and they’re rarely random. The marine layer, the clay soil, and the hard water all leave fingerprints on a fixture.
- Aquia skirted bowls cracking at the hidden mounting flange. The Aquia (CST416M and CT418M series) uses a concealed mounting system behind the skirt, which looks clean but transfers floor movement directly to the bowl. On Ventura’s expansive clay soil, slabs settle and shift, and we’ve pulled Aquia bowls with hairline cracks at the rear mounting boss. The bowl rocks, water seeps, and the crack widens. This is a structural issue, not a gasket issue.
- Drake 1.6 gpf intermittent ghost-flushing. The Drake (CST744S/CST746S series) uses a Korky 528T flapper in most configurations. After three to five years of Ventura’s hard water, the flapper’s sealing surface degrades and the refill tube drifts out of position. The tank slowly loses water and the fill valve cycles on its own, which sounds like the toilet flushed itself. A worn flapper and a misadjusted refill tube are the usual culprits.
- Promenade tank-to-bowl gasket seepage. The Promenade (CST424SF/CST423SF series) has a three-bolt tank mounting system. When hard water scale builds on the flush valve seat, the gasket can’t compress evenly, and you get a slow seep between tank and bowl that worsens over months. Replacing the gasket without descaling the seat means the leak comes back.
- Ultramax clogging at the 2-1/8″ glazed trap. The Ultramax (CST854 series) uses a wider trapway than most toilets, but Ventura’s mineral-heavy water leaves calcium deposits that narrow the passage over time. The toilet still flushes, but it chokes on waste that used to pass easily. We descale the trap chemically where possible and restore the factory flow.
- SoftClose seat hinge failures near the coast. Salt air accelerates corrosion on the seat hinge hardware, especially in homes within a mile or two of the beach. Toto’s SoftClose seats are well made, but the hinges still rust faster in Ventura’s marine layer than they would inland in Oxnard or Camarillo.
Toto Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

We use OEM Toto parts, flappers, fill valves, and gaskets, whenever the part affects flush performance or warranty integrity. A Drake with an aftermarket flapper that doesn’t seal correctly wastes water and triggers ghost-flushing. The right Korky 528T costs a little more and lasts years longer. For non-critical hardware like supply lines, tank bolts, and mounting hardware, we’re comfortable using proven equivalents from Korky or Fluidmaster, and we tell you which is which before we install anything.
For cracked Aquia or Drake bowls, we recommend replacement over patching. A hairline crack in a vitreous china bowl can’t be restored economically, and even “successful” repairs fail within months. We’ll quote a new bowl and a wax-free seal, reset the flange properly, and make sure the fixture sits level on your floor. If you’re not sure whether a repair makes sense, call us at (341) 218-4316 and we’ll tell you honestly before quoting anything.
Our Toto Service Process – Step by Step
Every Toto service call in Ventura follows the same sequence, and you’ll never wonder what happens next.
- 1
Diagnosis. We inspect the fixture, check the flange, test the flush cycle, and identify the root cause. For a ghost-flushing Drake, that means inspecting the flapper, refill tube, and fill valve together. For a rocking Aquia, we check the floor, the flange, and the bowl mounting points.
- 2
Written quote. Before any work starts, we hand you a written scope with the exact parts, the exact labor, and the final number. Not an estimate. A written price.
- 3
Repair or install. We use OEM parts for flush-critical components, drop cloths and shoe covers throughout, and quiet tools during family rest hours where possible.
- 4
Testing. We run multiple flush cycles, check for leaks at the tank-to-bowl joint, the supply connection, and the base, and confirm the bowl sits level and stable.
- 5
Warranty and clean-up. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it’s not done right, we make it right. Before we leave, we take a photo of the clean-up so you have proof the home was left right.

AfterToto Products We Service & Install in Ventura

We work across the Toto residential range:
- Drake – CST744S and CST746S series, including 1.6 gpf and 1.28 gpf configurations
- Aquia – CST416M and CT418M series, including the skirted dual-flush models
- Promenade – CST424SF and CST423SF series
- Ultramax – CST854 series
We keep common OEM parts in our Ventura service stock: Korky flappers for the Drake, fill valves for both 1.6 and 1.28 gpf tanks, tank-to-bowl gasket sets, wax-free seals, and SoftClose seat hardware. When a part is out of stock locally, we order OEM directly and schedule the repair so you’re not left without a working bathroom.
We also handle the construction side as your General Contractor: full bathroom remodels, walk-in shower installations, tub-to-shower conversions, and shower replacements built around your Toto fixtures.
We Also Service These Brands
Toto is a specialty of ours, but we’re not a single-brand shop. We install and service KraftMaid and Wellborn cabinetry, Cambria and Silestone countertops, and Kohler, Moen, and Grohe fixtures. If your Ventura remodel mixes a Toto toilet with a Kohler tub filler and Cambria vanity top, one crew handles the whole job.
FAQs – Toto Construction Service in Ventura
We fix the floor connection, not the toilet. A rocking Aquia usually means the mounting flange has moved or the slab has settled, and the bowl is transferring that movement to the skirt. We reset the flange with stainless repair straps, install a new wax-free seal, and shim and caulk the bowl per Toto’s installation spec. The bowl should sit level and stay quiet. Call (341) 218-4316 for an inspection and a written price.
It depends on the specific Drake model you have. The E-Max flush tower is designed for certain Drake and Drake II tank configurations, and retrofitting one into an older flapper-style tank can require a tank internals swap and a different flush valve. We’ll check your model number and tell you whether the conversion is worth doing or whether a new OEM flapper and fill valve get you the same result for less money.
Almost always, hard water scale on the flush valve seat. Ventura’s water leaves mineral deposits on the seat where the gasket compresses, and a new gasket can’t seal against a rough, scaled surface. We descale the seat, inspect the tank bolts and washers, and then set the new gasket. If the tank itself is warped or cracked, we’ll tell you and quote a replacement tank.
Replace it. A hairline crack in a vitreous china bowl, especially at the mounting boss or the trap, can’t be restored economically. Patches and epoxies fail within months, and a bowl that lets water seep under the skirt damages the floor over time. We quote a new Aquia bowl, a wax-free seal, and proper flange reset as one written price, so you know the full number before we start.
We stock and install Toto SoftClose seats, which are matched to the bowl shape and hinge spacing. If you want a specific aftermarket seat for a heated or bidet-style option, we’ll install it if it’s compatible with your bowl, and we’ll tell you if the hinge geometry won’t work before you order it.
Toto installation costs in Ventura depend on the scope of the work. A simple toilet replacement with a wax-free seal runs a few hundred dollars in labor plus the fixture. A full bathroom remodel built around your Toto fixtures runs $9,000 to $28,000. A walk-in shower installation runs $4,500 to $12,000, and a tub-to-shower conversion runs $3,500 to $10,000. Here’s the full pricing line-up:
| Service | Price Range |
|---|---|
| Full Bathroom Remodel | $9,000 – $28,000 |
| Small Bathroom Remodel | $5,000 – $12,000 |
| Walk-In Shower Installation | $4,500 – $12,000 |
| Tub-to-Shower Conversion | $3,500 – $10,000 |
Every one of these gets a written price before any work starts, with no change orders once the scope is set. Call (341) 218-4316 for an exact quote on your Toto project, and we’ll walk the job with you first.
